A shared or private cabin with fellow international counsellors. Some roles bunk with the kids. Either way, you're never alone, and you'll leave with friendships that last a lifetime.

How Long You'll Stay
Traditional camps: minimum 9 weeks. City camps: minimum 6 weeks. Most programs run early June through mid August, and you may have time to travel the U.S. afterward within the dates your sponsor confirms.

J-1 exchange programs, including the Camp Counselor and Summer Work Travel categories, are administered by the U.S. Department of State through its BridgeUSA program. We work only with State Department-designated sponsor organizations, and your DS-2019 is issued by your designated sponsor before you apply for the visa.

Your stipend is paid by your host camp in U.S. dollars, and the amount depends on your camp, role, and program dates. Under BridgeUSA rules, Camp Counselor participants are paid the same as their American counterparts at the camp. We don't promise a fixed amount; your pay is confirmed with your placement. Because meals and housing are provided at camp, most of what you earn is yours to keep.
Counselor and activity roles at U.S. camps fall under the J-1 Camp Counselor category. It is open to applicants aged 18 or older who are post-secondary students, youth workers, teachers, or people with specialized skills, with English strong enough to supervise and interact with American youth. Xpath typically works with applicants aged 18 to 28. Summer Work Travel is a separate J-1 category that is only open to post-secondary students.
Yes. Camps hire for sports, arts, media, outdoor activities, performance, water skills, and general counselor roles. What matters most is that you can communicate well, show responsibility, and explain the skill or experience you bring.
The online application asks for your passport number, expiry date, and a passport copy. If your renewal is still in progress, message us on WhatsApp first and our team will tell you what can move forward now and what must wait for the new passport.
